Funzin-KDPOF, cooperation in development of POF products for automobiles
Software development company funzin (CEO-Kim DeukHwa) and Spanish company KDPOF will develop the "high-speed giga communication network products" for home networks and automobile electrical equipment.
Instead of using copper wire and fiberglass, KDPOF has implemented plastic-based optical communication technology. This solved the problem of electromagnetic interference that copper wire cables have. It also overcomes the disadvantages (less flexibility) of glass fiber. POF-based converters offer high reliability and high-speed data transfer. It will improve fuel efficiency when applying vehicles. This is because the main components such as cables, converters, and connectors that make up the POF network are cheaper and flexible than current optical communication equipment.
With the recent adoption of autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance (ADAS) functions as a major option for automobiles, the automotive network has changed into Ethernet. In line with this trend, demands for PoF cable for electric fields are expected to increase rapidly.
POF can also be used as a home network. It can be applied to IPTV set-top box and WiFi AP (WiFi AP). With the spread of 5th generation (5G) mobile communication, the demand for high-speed Internet is increasing. In Europe, the introduction of high-speed communication networks for home use has already begun.
KDPOF was established in 2010. Headquarters and research institute were set up in Madrid, Spain. They provide network-related device technology to five countries, including Korea. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the European Telecommunications Standards (ETSI) helped standardize POF technologies.
Funzin was established in 2006. We supply 5G Wireless Network Quality Analysis Soulution
to major domestic mobile telecommunication carriers. Funzin also introduced big data solutions that combine ADAS and machine learning for smart cars. Earlier this year, Funzin developed a fusion solution with driver face recognition and drowsiness detection and exhibited it at CES 2019, the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition.
